"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

The Monaco has really grown on me.  Now it can be had for new in the old style.  I have a yellow faced Tag Heuer Formula One watch which, though not an automatic, I love it for the overall presentation.

$2.2 million is stupid crazy money for a watch.  But then again, a piece of canvass with some organized or disorganized brush strokes done by a dead guy can be worth even millions more.  It all depends on one's priorities and financial wherewithal.

I have the blue face one - https://www.tagheuer.com/us/en/timepieces/collections/tag-heuer-formula-1/43-mm-quartz/CAZ1014.BA0842.html

Kicking around getting the Gulf Monaco for my retirement gift to me.

During the last great ammo shortage I swapped some that cost me $30 for a knockoff Rolex Daytona 50th anniversary model. Great looking watch but just a clone. I could never justify 100k+ for a watch.  https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-platinum-daytona-ice-blue-116506.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwqvyFBhB7EiwAER786bboPomy3w2gcuWB1oofC3e5zs-JIh1IOh25npE4Lt6gzispd4sAlRoCV1UQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

There are a lot of fun cars that could be had for the cost of that Daytona.
The Gulf Monaco is a good looking watch.

None at the factory store anymore - there are still new ones in stores for much less money.
