At first I thought it was the original one found here in Mi sitting in a junkyard. My friend Mark just finished a car hauler out of a pumper fire truck. Doesn't look like yours which is just incredible  but will compliment his 64.5 "Mustang II" undocumented show car.
Scott, to me it looks like the white and blue ones Ford used to haul the 69 drag cars(Mustangs and Torinos). I think Bob Perkins had one and it is restored and the other was found not far from me here in Mi in a yard with a lot of the original fabrication cut. So it looks spot on to the original hauler from my memory of pics. Is it? If so what did they have to work with to come up with this finished product? Blue prints? Measurements from the one finished hauler? Thanks. Gary

I was never able to find concrete evidence that any of the originals survived.  I wish I had access to an original to take measurements from.  And I am not aware of any blueprints.  Heard they existed but never was able to find anyone that could show me a single blueprint.   So, I scaled mine from original photos the best I could.

Lu Chanes (California) already built the perfect 1969 Ford Drag Hauler replica.  Mine is just a poor man's attempt at something close to what the originals looked like.

The blue truck was for Hubert Platt ( rip) and Randy Payne, The white truck was for Ed Terry (rip) and Dick Wood. the Shelby T/A cars for '69 were hauled in Semi trailers. Bud Moore did use COE ramp trucks but not this style. They were a "wedge" style , not a "dove tail" design.
It is possible the two trucks were repainted and one was given to Dick Loehr and the other to the Polaris Drag team . John Vermeersch  would probably know. The "usual " giveaway is the originals used "disc" style Budd wheels and copies usually have "Rockwell" style rims that bolt onto a five spoke hub like Scott's truck.

    Beautiful truck Scott!

The one I referenced was found south of Detroit and a guy north of Detroit was able to see what it was by the old lettering that could be found on it and bought it. The top of the back was cut off and it was in rough shape. I did a google search and a "Mustangs and Fords" article as "rare finds" mentioned a hauler found but the link didn't exist anymore. One of the writers for M&F said the other day on FB(Mark Houlahan)that Motor trend was breaking all links so articles could no longer be found. They were moved to a new motor trend hot rod site. So I assumed 2 existed but now the restored one is a clone?

Randy, the supposed found truck is up  in John's neck of the woods so to speak. Next time I see John I'll ask him about them. Gary

Looking forward to seeing it at SAAC46 - I hope.
I passed on an original paint running registered COE 20' flatbed for $600 about 22 years ago just because of the work to create something like this.
I just looked at Google maps - looks like it's still there if anyone is interested. BTW it's still sitting in the same spot I saw it when my dad delivered one of his tractors to the guy.

Well, still haven't seen any concrete evidence that an original one exists.  Have heard stories, but nothing real.  Ford made more than two of them.  Other colors than blue or white.  Slight differences but all very similar.

The one I posted above done was bought for 400 bucks as a running pumper. The cost to tow it to his house wasn't cheap and it was about 40 miles away. He has very little money  into his hauler the most expensive part being new 600 drive shaft since the pump was part of the original drive shaft. He horse traded with John Vermeersch for the flat bed on it. added a duck tail to it. He scrapped for metal or sold other parts and still has some nice boxes from it he is selling.

The question is Scott do you have a car in mind you are going to display with it or just rotate your collection? I would love to build something like this.  Gary

I'm not sure I'll put a car on it.  Probably just use it to go get coffee.
