I always sang the song drove my Shelby to the Levee.

If they had driven a Ford to the Levee, they would have arrived before it had dried.
So true!
"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Gee, I stepped outside briefly to check my car and it seems the topic has changed.

Like deathsled, my car is equipped with a 3:50 rear end and turns 4,000 at 70mph; this is on BFG 14" radial T/A's.

Thanks for reporting on that. Now, perhaps, the rpms are accurate for this setup. But then again maybe the tachs read incorrectly in the same way.

Interesting.  As a point of reference, I, too, have 3:50 differential gears with 205/70 x 14 tires and turn 3500 at 70.   Tach has
been repaired by Phil Severence and the speedo is dead nuts on verified by my phone Speeodometer app.

I'm also running 205/70-14 on my 66 with 4.11 gears. At 70 mph I'm just under 4000 RPM. According to the online engine RPM calculators (there are many), I should be running 3821 RPM @ 70 MPH with those tires (assuming the online tire calculators are correct) so looks to be right on the money.
