I was out on an early morning drive at 06:00 today traveling though misty patches which added to the mystique of driving a Shelby Mustang almost as old as me. I got up to 70 mph and the engine was screaming 4,000 rpm which perhaps is normal for a 3:50 rear end. I noticed a vibration which I attributed to the rear trap door but at home I saw my side exhaust pipe on the driver's side was lightly touching the body. Underneath, the glass pack was sagging lower in the middle. Other side is fine. I must've lost a clamp. Anyone have any similar issue before? So the music has died. For now.
Going to jack her up when the sun begins to set.  Too damn hot to be laying on a black asphalt driveway.  It should be something very simple.  I will just do a side by side comparison with the right exhaust.

4000 rpm @ 70 sounds too high too me for 3.50s.  Sure you don't have a lower gear, or perhaps short sidewalls?   

I've had non-modified cars with 4.11s that ran 4000 rpm at 80 mph.

2006 FGT, Tungsten. Whipple, HRE 20s, Ohlin coil-overs, 3.90 gears. Certified 210.7 mph.

The car has Klutt's close ratio Toploader racing transmission with the Richmond gears.  Maybe the tachometer is reading incorrectly?  The tires on the car are currently 215 60R 15 in the rear and 210 60R 15 in the front.  Suggestions?

Literally blew out my glass packs on the way to mini nats years ago - long noisy drive.  haha

I always drive with ear plugs.  Problem solved in that area.

A coat hanger will fix that right up - lots cheaper than the job specific bailing wire.

Jacked up. Looks like there are only two attachment points. I'm just going to take red to a shop and throw her on a hoist and let them figure it out. I can't do everything in this life.

I had a similar issue with the orginal tach; it shows much higher RPM for a given speed than I thought.  Put in an aftermarket tach and now with 3.50 at 70 mph runs arounds 3200 rpm.  the difference is most dramatic at lower rpm's.  above 4000 the tachs are similar

Richard:  Or is it your speedometer?   Or some of both?    Is your 4th gear a 1:1?

I can't tell if speedo though I did measure it against an unmanned radar gun in the area and 40 mph matched spot on. I don't know if 4th gear is 1:1. I can call Klutt and see if he recalls.

I'd bet it's 1:1, but you never know in a race setup.  Just wanted to cover the revving possibilities.

Try the speed trap radar at 70 and see what it says.   8)

First let me say that I am not a doctor nor do I portray one on TV.

But if a where an M.D. by the symptoms explained by the patient,  I would say the malady would be ujointitis ooooor weightoff driveshaftism.

Check both u joints or loss of a weight on drive shaft. Take two aspirins and contact me in the morning after 9:30 a.m.

Well there is some vibration at 60 plus mph. I had considered getting the driveshaft balanced.
