I jumped off of a cliff

At the ripened age of 58 on June 30th, I gave my notice to the firm I work at in favor of starting my own law firm. My last day will be this Friday. I tell myself that I should have done this 20 years ago. Therefore I do not want to be 78 saying I should have done this at 58. As Jordan Peterson said, we not only need to protect our present selves, but we need to protect our future selves that spans over time. I take such advice seriously. I will be going door to door with door hangers (1,000) starting Monday for powers of attorney and wills. I still believe old fashioned tactile paper delivered to your door still gives the internet a run for its money. Of course personal injury and traffic related offenses along with bankruptcy will be other practice areas to be on the list.  That having been said, there may be some hiatus time for me on this site.  But then again maybe I will be on even more while I wait for my phone to ring.  Whatever happens, I will still have my music and my passion for cars and more particularly Shelbys and with even greater specificity, car 6s843.

Best wishes to you all,

Richard Elsliger

Best wishes to you!  I enjoy your ability to put words together to express your thoughts.
Maybe the folks at MACAN could benefit from your counsel?  Wouldn't that be fun?

Thank you for your well wishes, gentlemen. Ironically, hopefully no one at MCACN needs my legal services. It is almost never a good thing when you have to talk to a lawyer. Unless it is estate planning and so on. I will be at MCACN this year. I am bothered and a bit angry I will never see Jim Cowles ever as he saw my car at MCACN in 2019 and I had missed seeing him by just a few minutes. I wanted to thank him personally about the Cobra intake he did for me and the lap belts and various other things...I still think about him when I put my rechromed Ray Brown on to drive car 843.

Best of luck to you, Richard.  May your new endeavor be all that you want it to be.  Besides, it take real balls to drop the safety net beneath you.

2003 we had a big house, 2 new cars and a money spinner business in Orlando Florida

Got fed up and sold up.

2004 moved to England. £400 car, horrendous cheap tint apartment. Shipped over
1m3 of our stuff at that time. Cost more to send our dogs over than to come over ourselves with all our stuff (stuff shipped a few years later)

I now import and sell classic Mustangs. Dream job most days :-)

Balsy move we have never regretted

Good luck sir

"Ernie the Attorney" I admire the creativity. It is very catchy. Yes partner in the offing if I get busy. Otherwise Target is paying $15 an hour. My ego isn't so big that it would stop me from working there part time if need be to get my law business rolling.

That sort of move is huge! In the words of Machiavelli, "fortune favors the bold."

Side-Oilers

Good on you, Richard.  Being your own man is often (always?) much better than working for someone else.

Just follow behind those Teslas operating on autonomous mode and you'll have more personal injury cases than you can handle.

Best of luck. Hope to meet you in person sometime for a steak and drinks.
