I tried to watch it but found it kind of boring? It's neat to be able to identify with a real obtainable car like the Corvette but I must be jaded and find it all anti-climatic?

I suppose being 15 at the time of the GT40's stomping Lemans, gave me the license to accept the GT40's as real production cars and maybe offering $14,000, "Road versions" is proportional to a several million dollar current "road car" version of these "wet dream" billion dollar race cars? I don't know? My brain apparently has changed? I have difficultly with envisioning the concept of the vastness of the all inclusive endless "Universe"?

Yes times have changed at LeMans but also in all Motorsport racing. It still is interesting to watch the technology and with LeMans, the fact that gentlemen racers can compete is still unique.
