Electric versus nitromethane

"talk at length in a foolish or inconsequential way." I looked up the precise definition of this word and it fits very well.

Everybody talks about how amazing the instant torque is with an electric car and prattles on and on how fast they are so I posit this: Who wins in the scenario of the fastest EV versus the fastest funny car? I will choose nitromethane over electric every time.

Electric cars wont trip the car alarms in the parking lot at the drag strip. So that alone leaves me disinterested.

     IF a 10,000 hp electric motor could be built and enough battery shoe horned into the vehicle to last for a few seconds , it might be e tough race. I doubt the tires would stay in one piece on the electric vehicle.

It still wouldn't hold a candle to a jet car doing burner pops at OCIR. 

One time when I was there in the late '70s...two jet cars at the same time.

They blew down part of the fence behind the staging lanes.   Might have burned it a bit too.   Bitchin!

"IF" and "could"......so far......so far.  But technology progresses so we shall see.  I still like to lambast electric because fossil is so ingrained into my psyche.  The drama of a funny car with blasting flames belching out of the Zoomies trumps electric.  They won't get the audiences with electric and organized drag racing will fall away.  It's already a bit of a shock to me when I see the empty stands on super stock drags with the exception of pro NHRA events.  But it will never be like the 60s and 70s again that I can see.  A golden era put into the history books.
