SVSAAC 2021 December Driving Tour
« on: December 05, 2021, 10:03:16 AM »
Yesterday, the Southeastern VA Region SAAC held its final event of 2021- a driving tour starting at the visitor's center in Jamestown (just north of the Jamestown-Scotland Neck ferry landing),which headed up Route 5 (with a lunch stop at Indian Field Tavern on Route 5 in Charles City County). After a great lunch, we headed north on 5, crossed the James River at the Benjamin Harrison bridge at Hopewell, and proceeded down 10 to Surry, where our group broke up. We had approximately 30 folks and a good number of cars (including a 65 GT350, four 66 GT350s, two 67 GT350s, two 68 GT350s, two Cobra replicas, two new GT350s, a 68 Mustang 2+2 and a 69 Fairlane). We had great weather and didn't encounter any real traffic problems. The only casualty was a mechanical problem with a 65 Mustang GT Fastback; we left it with a friend in Surry and picked it up later in the day). All in all, a nice way to cap off 2021. Much thanks to Greg and Kristie Bradner for organizing and hosting this event. See the below link for photos:

Ok, who let the Camaro in?  Would have been funny if that was the one casualty.    ;D

Honk, If it's the one I'm seeing, the blue Fairlane, that's a vinyl top. Maybe I'm missing something. :o

Yes, Beautiful turnout and weather. 8)

HAHA, yeah, the Camaro owner was a patron of the restaurant, who just happened to roll in after we were there. Besides the fact that I like really like Z/28s and Yenkos (although I'm pretty sure that was a clone), I wanted to get a photo of the Camaro with all of the Shelbys breathing down its neck LOL.

As for the Fairlane, it's actually a white painted roof (and believe it or not, that's how it came. Other than being repainted, it is a mostly original car that my buddy Tom got out of Ohio a couple of years ago. Just north of 50K orig miles.

enlarging the Fairlane photo, see that's a painted top, not a convertible  ::)
