Correct dual quad carb bell crank?
« on: October 10, 2021, 11:05:16 PM »
I have what I suspect is the original carb linkage from a 63 Galaxie 427.  The bell crank, or main linkage part that goes between the carbs, has no arm for the return spring on the driver side.  The other side is all fine, and the linkage was all just replated and looks great.  There is just no arm for the return spring, only the throttle rod connected to the  firewall bracket.
Question is does anyone repro the correct bell crank for the GT500?
Current custodian of 1967 GT500 #683, and a real Meyers Manx dune buggy. Also currently broke as a result.

That is likely a low riser bellcrank. It does not have a return spring provision as the original used the spring elsewhere.

Auto Krafters has both listed in their catalog.

I ordered one and it was on back order for almost a year so eventually I just cancelled it out and added the additional throttle arm to the low riser bellcrank and painted it carb renew gold.

The finishes on the originals varies so much that most aren't even going to notice subtle changes like variations in the gold color.

You need the right throttle spring and bracket to the intake as well to give you the original set up. Both are also unique to it and '67 only.

Carl’s Ford Parts(linkage set) and Mansfield Mustang(spring & bracket) used to have these items. Sounds like there was a couple different springs used throughout 67 GT500 production, others can elaborate.  Galaxies and Fairlane Medium Risers use an almost identical linkage set up other than it has a trunnion for the throttle rod to hook to(picture #4). It can be removed to work on a Shelby.

Funny story about Carl's, he won't answer me either by telephone or email. It's the first black listing I can recall.  ;)

The finish is whatever I feel like using.
Factory was zinc plated and yellow hex chromate. This is also what I use.

If you ever get to replating yours and want to sell them keep me in mind for one please?

I can't find any that are plated, just painted gold-ish.
