Might be fun to start a list of who's in the 50 year club, 40 year club, 30 year club.

Jim and Jan Shield bought their 65 new. Their milestone was 70 years of marriage a couple months ago.
I've seen that car in some magazine(s) somewhere.  I think it was featured in a book "How to Buy a Shelby."
"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Now that’s impressive 70 years of marriage and a 65 Shelby
Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

I have had the pleasure of working with Jim on 5S272 for 34 years. I actually "claimed" 272 when it was in the showroom ( unsold) at McCoy Ford here in Anaheim. I was just a kid but rode my bicycle downtown every week to check it out because "I" was going to buy it. You can imagine how devastated I was when I found out a lady had bought it before I could. Fast forward to 1987 when sitting around talking and Jim says "well Jan bought ours in Anaheim" and I blurt out "so you're the lady that traded a Porsche in for my car". They couldn't believe all the details I knew . Two of the nicest people I know.
My current Hertz car has been in my possession sine '74 , another $1,000 car. I'm going to keep it for at least another eleven.

I got mine on April 4, 1971. 11am. I can still remember when it pulled up.

It really did change my life considerably and headed me down a different road with an amazing group of new people that I met that I never would have otherwise.

If it wasn't about a mile a way I might have bought the 427 Cobra from Carter up in Millbrook.

Fate would not have it as it were.

'68 GT350 Hertz, NY, NY car. Somewhat of a non-conformist kinda' like it's current owner is.

Carly Simon knew me as "Corvair Doug". Vanessa Williams was only 14 so I couldn't even take here for a ride without a chaparone.

I positively "know" that Momma "C" would ask me where the Corvair was? She'd remember. Geeze. Would the Shelby have changed that? ::)
