Troubleshooting Brake Light Help

I cannot get my brake lights to come on, although my emergency flashers work fine. When I disconnect the two pin connector of the taillight harness, and push the brakes, I have 12 volts. When I connect the connector, and push the brakes, I don't have any voltage on either side of the connector. So the brake light switch seems to be working, and the taillight harness seems good as the emergency flashers work as they go through the same circuit. Any ideals why I lose voltage when connector the connector under the dash of the taillight harness? I'm sure it's something simple I am missing.

Most if not all current bulbs are flared at the base and don't seat well in the taillight bucket socket. I had to work my new bulbs at the soldered contact a bit with a file to get the proper fit. Then the push-in was still so damn tough that I cut a 2" piece of heater hose to prevent injury to "pincher fingers" and was then able to lock in the bulbs. Every time I slammed the truck lid I would get a brake light mis-connection, Fixed now.
