I just received this to replace it

Rocket

That looks like where the one on 6S550 is mounted. Ron
Original owner of 6S550. Owned since 1967. 64,000 Miles, all body original except hood and front valance. All glass original except windshield. Still has aluminum 4 speed. Has replacement Mico.  Also own 1966 Mustang convertible. They are drivers, not trailer queens.

The location looks like the area. Will have three holes and two support tubes inside of the two outer holes as discussed in other threads. The right tach (location of the emblem) would depend on what car and when it was built if you care about those details

That is correct for '66 chassis ( post carryover) . Carryovers ( '65 chassis) did not use the spacer/ stabilizer pieces. "Top logo" tachs were used until somewhere in the 900 range IIRC , then switched to "bottom logo" versions like the OP has.

Hi,  Don't know if you installed your tach yet but, here is the location of the holes on my car.

Thanks for the detail pic! What number is your car?

You will need a mounting bracket with a flat bottom. The one you have is for mounting on a steering column.

Viginia Classic Mustang is a great source for a correct repop bracket. It "might" even fool Bob G.

As I was comparing previously posted pictures of the tach mounting holes. Amazing how all holes are located in identical locations.  You would think (unless SA technician using a template) might put some in a slightly different location. Here is mine too, It was nice seeing the original color when i removed the old original dash pad. Question. The screws used to hold down tach mount look the same as used to mount the dash instrument cluster in dash.  If this correct? Thanks Fred
