68 mustang fastback heater box
« on: March 11, 2022, 04:44:18 AM »
Hello Everyone
I have a friend who has ordered a new reproduction heater box for his 68 fastback as his original case was toast and beyond repair.
When he has ordered the new heater box its arrived fine however it has arrived with a metal plate separately in the box and i cant remember the last one i saw/ looked at i think did not have this plate inside? Is this maybe a early or late thing? The heater box is a non ac box. Hoping somebody can tell me if this plate is to be used or not? I will attach a picture with a red arrow pointing to the plate/bracket in question. Thanks for any help you maybe able to give me as it looks to me like the plate will not fit with the brass heater core installed.
Have a nice day
Dave

I think you are referring to the rectangular frame?

That goes inside the heater box next to the heater core.

Hello Pete
Thank you for the reply i was hoping you might see the post and be able to help. I must confess i think i had brain fog/freeze yesterday. I looked at it again this morning after i made the post online and it all clicked into place and i understood how it was meant to go. I think it must have been because it was a long day yesterday working in the garage till past midnight tiredness must of got to me however thank you very much for you help and for the photo. I will save the photo for reference and i will hopefully not forget how this plate goes for next time i am assembling a heater box.
Thanks once again Pete for your help and advice its always much appreciated.
Kind regards
Dave
