Happy retirement day to Randy 👍
« on: March 31, 2022, 02:01:35 PM »
I have known Randy for approximately 47 years and he definitely deserves it. He's not only been helpful to the Shelby community but has been on numerous other forums helping others. He has been to dozens and dozens of events where he has helped in person also. There's probably not a lot of people who have been more helpful to the automotive community than Randy. A lot of you already know this but some don't so again, HAPPY RETIREMENT DAY TO RANDY 🙂🎂🍻🍻🥂🥂

       Thanks Roy ,
It seems like I have been in the Automotive performance industry for almost all of my working life. Some highlights Stafford Ind ( clear plastic distributor caps) Stinger ignition , J&S Speed shop , Sig Erson cams, Babe Erson cams , Doug Thorley headers , Mopar performance , Anaheim Gear , JE Pistons , and now Racetec pistons until the end of this day , 3/31. I have enjoyed working with MANY of the "BIGS" in racing and parts I designed won the Daytona 500 in the fateful year Dale Sr. lost his life there. All of that is history now as I focus on "my" time and my remaining personal goals AKA "bucket list". The major one is to get a 9.999 time slip at the drag strip with 6S477 which is a lofty goal I have set for myself . Might earn me a spot in the SAAD book of records. I know other "tube frame" , big block powered GT350's have gone faster , but I want to do it with an unmodified unibody.
Thanks for the kind words roy , I will be here on the SAAC site every day now , not just week days like in the past.
    Randy
Celebrating 46 years of drag racing 6S477 and no end in sight.

I have known Randy for approximately 47 years

Doing the math we're in the same boat. I bought my GT350 and joined COCOA-Orange County in 1975. Randy was a past president. When I was crewing on 5R001 he supplied us our spare engine that sat in my garage for several years. The original had blown up at Monterey. When we tore it down we discovered hardware store grade 5 rod nuts. The restorer figured they'd be fine for a museum piece. I'll bet he cringed when Larry Zane decided to race it.
I want to be there when Randy breaks out of the 10s.

Randy,

I'll echo what everyone else is saying:  Congratulations on a well earned retirement.  Keep on running down the track, a quarter mile at a time.  I hope to meet up with you in person one of these days. And thanks for the PM help you've given me in parts selection.  Best of luck to you.

Congratulations on your retirement. But...stay busy. Maybe write a book about your life as well.

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"
