How many guys own both
« on: September 28, 2022, 12:28:10 AM »
I'm guessing there's quite a few guys who own a Ford Gt & a Shelby on here ,i'm seriously thinking about getting one soon i've always wanted one but it's always been bad timing for me, when they where more affordable i didn't have the means ,now i have the means & there at there peak. But i feel there dropping a bit or at-least gonna be steady for a bit,do you guys think there's still room for them to grow in the future.

I had a beautiful 06, I sold it to up my Shelby collection.....BIG mistake. Alter this nightmare is over, I may sell a few and buy another 05-06 and call it good. The downside to owning a FGT is if you damage it, it will take a hit on value, advice, buy a well repaired car with history, and enjoy it. Trust me, you will. If someone thinks this is stupid advise, talk to me, I will gladly explain this to you. Rich Brooks will be your best friend!

Thanks for the info 67gt350 ,so are you saying buy an accident car that's been repaired properly or buy a well maintained  car with good history ,which is more what i'm looking for ,it would definitely be a keeper for me.

I've owned my 68 GT500 convertible since 2007 and my 2006 Ford GT since March of 2019.   I bought my FGT in 2019 cause I was turning 50 on April 21st, 2019 and I was having a serious mid life crisis.  I couldn't get a girlfriend because the wife wouldn't like it and besides, I like the cars better.

My 68 Shelby purchase was a good idea but my 06 FGT purchase in 2019 was freakin brilliant if I do say so myself.

Are you thinking of getting a 60's Shelby or a newer 05/06 FGT or are you thinking of getting both?

Hi, the reason for me saying a car with stories would be the way I would go...is number one, if they are repaired right, they still drive fantastic. And are much less money. The reason I sod mine was a few reasons, for me, every time I drove it, I had to dodge on  the average, 3 deer for the first 3 miles and when I came home, the last 3 miles....Scared me! I had to be careful of everyone looking at it as I drove by! One person almost hit me taking a picture of it, believe it or not, I kind of get tired of that. I also had too much respect for that car as, I questioned my own drivability as I was able to kick out the rear many times on my road. (if you know my road, it is like a mini dragon. Last, I never owned a 66 GT350, and I wanted one, I got it and love it, I also get my White 67 GT350, next Nightmist blue. I will buy a "stories car" next as I don't care what people think.
BUT as for my "Whatever I have is shit, and whatever you are selling is great" rule, it will be hard.
As a value deal, yes it was a mistake. Life goes on...I was without a Shelby from 1989 to 2016, I can do it again! If we fix Washington.

Same reason my friend sold his. Most people wanted to sit in your blind spot and the others wanted to race with whatever POS they were driving. I was with him at a light one time and the idiot in the Mustang next to us actually spun out right in front of us doing a cars&coffee stunt leaving the light. If we had left at the same time he'd have crashed into the drivers door.

Sold my '06 Tungsten/white stripes car shortly after buying because I didn't fit in it well, and definitely couldn't fit in it with a helmet.

Stupid decision, yes. I kick myself every time I see the latest prices. But, there's more to life than $$.  I want cars I can drive and feel comfortable to sit in.  And yes, that includes my Kirkham 427.  It is way more fun for me than the GT, and even quicker/scarier on or off a track.

Okay, there...I think I justified it in my mind again...why the hell I ever sold the GT!   Gorgeous cars.  Congrats to all who still own theirs.
Current:
2006 FGT. Tungsten. Whipple, HRE 20s, Ohlin coil-overs, 3.90 gears. 210.7 mph.

Kirkham Cobra. 482-inch aluminum side-oiler. Tremec 5-spd.

Formerly:
1968 GT500KR #2575 (1982-2022)
1970 Ranchero GT 429
1969 LTD Country Squire 429
1963 T-Bird Sport Roadster
