"battery-powered plates at $19.95 per month and yearly rates at $215.40 a year for a four year agreement.
The wired plates run $24.95 for 48 months and $275.40 if paid yearly"

Don't like the 4 year agreement deal,  also the 215.40 or 275.40 yearly seems like a lot of money

Currently I FL we pay per year right around $50 to 90 for a personalized plates

This is high way robbery....excuse the pun

The idiots that I've already seen with these plates in SoCal are usually in Range Rovers or Teslas.
(Somehow they're saving the planet this way.)

Don't we already pay way too much in car taxes and registration every year?
Why the hell would anyone willingly pay hundreds more for a digital license plate that CAN TRACK YOUR LOCATION?

I went with a friend to look at a new Cadillac Escalade a couple weeks ago, and the dealer had these things on every car on the lot. "Mandatory option" the salesman said.  My friend told him to shove it, and we left.  Did a nice burnout leaving the driveway, too.

Going to be great when they figure out how to hack these and then having rolling messages that the owner/driver may not enjoy.  driver may not notice for a long time while wondering why everyone that passes them flips them the bird or is honking their horn at them  :o

Your imagination runs wild with the possibilities

BTW Calif is not the only state

Currently available to purchase for consumers in Arizona, California, and Michigan.

They will spread and eventually take over like a colony of poisonous mushrooms. Hang on to those steel plates gentlemen.

I just put a set of original 1929 plates on my Model A. Those things are heavy enough to effect the gas mileage. They are more black/orange than black/yellow so perfect for the Halloween season.

They are the ideal color for this time of year. Period correct plates are the best! Unless they are digital. Perhaps one day in the future restorers of Tesla vehicles (unlikely) will seek out digital plates from the time that humans were not yet chipped.

Fortunately, Californians aren't the only idiots falling for this. Arizona and Michigan have it also. We'll have to wait and see how far it spreads. I don't see anything "convenient" about it, but as long as it's a "choice" I'm okay with it.
