Keith was/is a big party guy, no question. I believe he does routine blood transfusions too. Gotta say he was a delight to hang around with that night back in 1992. No drugs were used, just booze, and cigs. He was quite the charmer with the ladies too...

Scott: That's pretty damm bitchin that you got to hang out with him for an evening. How did that happen?

My wife and I walked into the elevator with him (just as he was getting off)  at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas in 2021, the morning before their concert.  We were there for the concert, but quickly decided to just nod at him instead of acting like fans. He gave a small nod back. Funny thing is he was in workout clothes, and was sweaty. I know he works out a lot, like all those old rockers have to do, but to see him at 9:00AM and looking like that was pretty strange. Something you wouldn't ever expect.

Van,
It happened all by chance. Keith was sitting at this table by himself enjoying his cocktails. The two girls I was with walked up to him and said 'hi'. He said have a seat...from there it turned into a fantastic evening. He talked about the upcoming Voodoo Lounge album, and that he and Mick recorded 30 songs.

Not one of you kids picked the Doors or anything else that came out of Laurel Canyon in the mid-late 60s. You know from a time when a concert had at most 1,000 people and you could hear the band over the crowd.

I have to confess I am a big fan of early Deep Purple. Hard to argue with Led Zep, I am a big fan of them too.

+1 on early Deep Purple. "Burn" is still one of my all-time favorite fast driving songs.

Smoke on the Water was my first record purchase in the form of a 45 rpm. The reception I received from my grandmother when I played it on the turntable was the equivalent of Jack and the Beanstalk with those worthless beans.

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past

For any Deep Purple fan you need to have the recording done by the BBC on March 9, 1972. It's basically all your favorite songs from "Machine Head" performed and recorded pretty well. It's a recent release, maybe 2007 or thereabouts so not released back then but a great recording. I like the version of "Lazy" on this recording.

Free Bird from Lynyrd Skynyrd is up there but as a whole still Zeppelin had the most hits.  In fairness, three of the band members drew the short stick that last flight.

Look at the girls from back then.  Today's young women look nothing like these girls.

My favorites are more kind of "under the radar".... Badfinger, Ian Hunter, Mott The Hoople, Steve Forbert....
