Ad description (just in case the link goes away in the distant future.....):

This 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350H is finished in black with gold stripes over black upholstery and powered by a 289ci V8 paired with a C4 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include a four-barrel carburetor, a dual exhaust system, hood and side scoops, hood pins, 14″ Magnum 500-style wheels, front disc brakes, a dash-mounted tachometer, latch-and-link harnesses for both occupants, and a push-button AM radio. The current owner purchased the car in 2021, and subsequent work included a repaint, an interior refresh, a transmission rebuild, servicing of the fuel, brake, and suspension systems, and replacement of the starter, the engine and transmission mounts, the bumpers, and the weatherstripping and seals. This GT350H is now offered at no reserve on behalf of the owner in Kansas with a serial number verification document from the SAAC, copies of 1966 Shelby delivery paperwork, service records, Hertz-branded apparel, and a clean Pennsylvania title.

Approximately 1,000 GT350H examples were produced as part of a partnership between Ford and the Hertz car rental company. This car was refinished by the owner in black with gold stripes, and replacement seals and weatherstripping were sourced at that time. Features include a hood scoop, quarter windows, and side scoops along with a bullet-style side mirror and a Shelby front valance. Close-up photos of the finish, trim, and lenses are provided in the gallery below.

Chrome-finished 14″ Magnum 500-style wheels wear Hertz "Sports Car Club" center caps and are mounted with Goodyear Blue Streak white-letter tires. Shelby chassis modifications included revised front suspension geometry, Kelsey-Hayes front disc brakes, and larger rear brake drums when compared to the contemporary standard Mustang. Service under current ownership included installation of Koni shocks and replacement of the brake master cylinder, shoes, and wheel cylinders.

The cabin features front bucket seats that were recently retrimmed in black vinyl over replacement foam, and are accompanied by a folding rear bench. A Ford-branded AM radio is mounted in the center of the dashboard along with a competition brake warning sticker, and additional equipment includes a dash-mounted tachometer and latch-and-link harnesses for both occupants.

Instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer flanked by gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery voltage. The five-digit odometer shows 80k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the current owner.

The 289ci HiPo V8 is fed by a four-barrel carburetor mounted on a high-rise aluminum intake manifold and was factory rated at 306 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of torque in Shelby trim. Work completed within the past two years by Cobra Automotive, Inc. of Wallingford, Connecticut, included installation of a Holley 715-cfm carburetor, a rebuild of the fuel pump, refinishing of the valve covers, and replacement of the starter, valve cover gaskets, and engine and transmission mounts.

Power is delivered to the wheels through a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission fitted with a replacement torque convertor. Additional photos in the gallery display the underside, drivetrain, and exhaust components.

Shelby American Automobile Club correspondence indicates that the serial number SFM6S1956 aligns with the Ford serial number recorded in their files. A copy of the order sheet for Hertz Corporation indicates delivery to Larson Ford, optional equipment, and a total price of $3,820. Additional Shelby documentation and service records are provided in the gallery below.

Hertz-branded apparel and memorabilia will accompany the car.

Vern this is Andy Killian I own the car lot that the car sold off of in 1967. Springs Rd. Auto Sales. The fellow that owned it in 1967 told me he had 3 or 4 of them that he bought at the auction in Darlington back in the day.
