1966 horn bracket question
« on: November 16, 2022, 08:15:09 PM »
I have a end of March built car and would like to know if the horn bracket is the type that has a dimple or a pin type that fits into the hole on the radiator support?  Thanks

From my memory between my 2 cars which are early and mid/later, your in the later group which is the folded tab to locate into hole.

Cheers

Change-over has been narrowed to late Nov to at least mid Dec 1965.

Your car would have been the later style shown below

If you want more info or someone needs to see the earlier version of the horn, below is a link to the CMF 66 San Jose Running Change thread on the subject

car 6S1431 had one of each I bought it in 1971 and they were like that when I got it, the original owner says he never changed them
Car also has one Ray Brown and one Impact Seat belt
Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

Thanks yes there are always a few cars that can turn up when your looking at non-critical change over points

Of course seat belt and horn don't really compare in any way given they were different parts installed at different plants and of course the Shelby VIN doesn't give us much to go on by way of when it was built at San Jose

Did you happen to record the dates from the horns? Guessing not but worth asking  :)

It’s always interesting those transitional details. Keen to know dates too

Thanks for the effort. No real hurry. Guess I should go through my records and at least throw those on the date spread to see what it can tell us. Number of possibilities of how an earlier one could have ended up on a later car so we can just about never know for sure
