Looks like the early 60s to me.  Somehow, it seemed safe there back then.  Tranquil.  Makes me want to jump through my monitor on the laptop and live there if but for one day.  And look at the cars man!
"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Look like any big city back in the day,  a section reminded me of down town Miami.

One thing did you notice how clean the streets and sidewalks where?

This is one of many films that were done during this era. The best one that I saw was on filmed on Hollywood Blvd and Sunset. Wow, 'back then' it was so clean, no traffic, and serene. These films are a bit before my time, however, it does remind me of LA when I was growing up in that once great city.

Tom Bradley when he was mayor did away with the rule that no building in the downtown could be higher than city hall. They also set up a program where if you built over a certain height you had to buy rights from nearby sites so they couldn't build as tall. The city rebuilt the downtown Library from the air rights they sold for the Arco towers.

Meanwhile in the burbs where I grew up West Covina 20 miles east of downtown. Still live 25 miles east in Covina.

Thanks for posting ! perfect focus on the camera. I would say 1961, "One Eyed Jacks" on the movie marquee.

Its shot on 35mm film with a 50mm lens, with the focus set to infinity with a small aperture on the lens (closed down) at round an F.11 (no more than F.4) for the long sharp depth of field.

A guilty pleasure of mine is late nights watching every one of these "movie b-roll background traveling shots" I can find online. YouTube has quite a lot.

They were typically filmed for movies/TV for the rear-projection shots of actors riding in the car, with this footage seen out the side and rear windows.

Now, they're precious time-capsules.

So bitchin to see the city from many decades ago,  so candidly.  Gives a real feel for how it felt to be there.  Not CGI crapola.

Up here in Toronto, Canada, I think it was early '80s,  one TV station late at night would have what they called "Night Drives" the

camera faced forward and they would cruise around the city for a couple of hours. I guess it filled in air time when the station was

off air, remember those days ? when they would sign off.

There would be something like this on the screen till the morning usually.
