A car completed at SAI would have a flat tail light panel.

Can you take a side profile shot of the end of ether tail light box?
This is the best I can get right now. It is the later flat style from what has been said already.
Yes I wanted to see the folded corners. The contour cutout detail where the metal folds over confirm it is original SA. Repros aren't made that way.

Just going by the Marti

Marti reports do not have the completion dates noted anywhere.
They only list the "Actually Built" date, at San Jose, CA (SJ). That is the knock down unit that was sent to SAI to complete.
Only a SAI "Production Order" or a SAAC registry will note the SAI "Completion" date.

Lfino, your parts look to be the early version, open ends and all the holes in the vertical panel - 15 per bracket.

Jeremy, yours are the later version closed-ends with fewer holes in the vertical panel  - 9 per bracket.  Were you able to measure the depth of the top segment?

Just so I understand. Released date is not the completion date? Thanks.
I have seen the date in the registry.

imming1965

car build date is actually 4/12/67 and not march as I stated, I was mistaken that scheduled date was 3/20/67, sorry for confusion...

Yes, this is an issues with the 1967 Shelby marti report. There should be some infomation to note the details and how to read them;
You are not the only person who reads this model year incorrectly

The Marti Report 'Important Dates" information is all based on the Ford records for 1967.
It is how the base / knockdown unit was built at Ford in San Jose, CA before Shelby touched the car.

It is NOT related to Shelby (SAI) dated information.
Those dates are later once the base unit is delivered to Shelby American in LA to be completed as a Shelby.

thanks Rich for the clarification, I often wondered that...
With all the variations of tail light panels and trim bezels and inner brackets, did any car with the raised panel come with stud version of trim ring? Or is that the same time they started using screw on type trim bezels? Because what I am seeing/working with, I cant make these stud version work with raised panel and shallow inner brackets that are supposed to be correct with raised panel.

It might be helpful to hear from others, but...

The survivor #0772 shows no trim screws with a flat tail light panel
The survivor #2310 shows the trim srcews with a raised tail light panel.

#0032 parts (photo from NVSAAC site, from many years ago, show the studs.
As an early SAI completed car it likely had a flat tail light panel.

Just wondering. Is it  possible imming 1965 has a panel not original to that car. I ask, because if my car 1551 was built 6 days later than imming 1965, and mine is a flat panel, does it not seem an earlier car would also be flat?

Slightly off topic but closely related - I've always wondered, and some of the images in this post raise it again, should the taillights be (i.e. intended to be from SA) horizontally aligned lens center parallel to panel center, top lines parallel or bottom lines parallel - I've seen all 3. And was the mounting kind of hit-and-miss at SA or mostly due to past and present owners during some sort of repair/refurbishment?
