Any idea what "fair market value"would be on something like that?

Well, at this point the auction is over $50K. Apparently it hasn't reached "market" value yet. Unfortunately, for something so rare (and highly desirable) there is no "fair" in the equation. Something is worth what you can get out of it at the time of sale.

Fair is the last man standing, when the others have tapped out! ;)

I have had 5 of these sohc over last 40 years and they are the koolest baddest ass motor ever built and almost every part on it is unique sohc only. Most were drag raced and blown up because of the  long timing chain stretching at high rpm since it dont use pushrods and lifters and cam is a stuby short cam to just turn dual point transisterized distributor. All  427 NOS sohc engine came with single carb intake so it can be broke in before first if you wanted to change to optional 2x4 intake engine had to be broke in because if u install 2x4 intake with the 2 big holley cfm carbs when new it would wash out the cylinder walls i was told years ago by a ford expert.  As far as $  well i know where a 427 nos sohc is in a display case sitting in a guys office that he paid  75 for back years ago . I value this nos engine not only for its rareity but because its complete with all original parts on it  as all the parts on the outside of engine are very rare as that stuff got thrown away when they set engine up for racing.

Not sure yet, maybe a street version of a 1969 funny car or a mid 30's Ford roadster

Appreciate it guys! This is one of the best NOS 427 SOHC you will find and REMEMBER...THEY ARE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE. As Ed said the rarity and originally of this one make it so special. We will see where it goes, still a ways to go on what it should bring in my opinion based on the last sale of an NOS one. But you never know with an auction.

If anyone on here is interested or has any questions, feel free to reach out to me personally.

Best,
Nate

We bought a pair of new ones for $25,000 each from Mickey Thompson when we were building the Megabuck Pantera. Cammer guru Earl Wade went through one of them and set it up for the twin turbo setup we ran. The other sat around until the guy who owned the Pantera lost interest and then it was sold to another friend for $10,000.

Somewhere I have a photo from SAAC-1. A guy trailered a 3 window coupe mounted on a 427 Cobra chassis with a Cammer in it. There were another 10 magnesium wheels in the bed of the truck that went along with the car. He was asking 10 grand it still needed interior and paint.
