Going through my dad's things before we left for Chicago I found these. The number 61 is mine and the Kemp R was my son's which is still missing that rear wheel. The rest were/ are pop's. Now I have a used car lot on my office desk.

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

#61 is 5R001's number at the 1965 SCCA Runoffs. Since cars showed up from all over the country they were assigned new numbers for the race. 6 was the region - west coast - 1 was where you finished in the region. Mark Donahue got 11 - Northeast #1. He was the closest competitor and almost won until his Firestones rubbed through the sidewalls (on the rear springs) on the high banking. Shelby and Titus knew Donahue was running wheels 1/2" wider and had planned to protest and have him DQed if he won.

I never knew that about the numbers.  I thought they were just random.  Thanks for that information, Brett.
