Was that Winters cross ram setup in the trunk when ordered, not installed.

I believe so, had a friend who purchased a 69 Z28 from the original owner who at the time gave him the original paper work show the rear disc and cross ram options. Funny though the car had a plane Jane flat hood , no cowl induction.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmm

The 'Cowl Hood' option was a mid year introduction. NOT standard on a Z/28.
Past owned Shelby's:
1968 GT-350--Gold
1970 GT-500--#3129--Grabber Orange.
Current lifelong projects:
1969 Mustang Fastback/FOX chassis, 5 speed, 4 wheel discs, with a modern Can-Am 494 (Boss 429), Kaase heads, intake with a 1425 cfm 'B' Autolite Inline carb, ala Trans-Am style
1968/70 Olds 442 W-30

98SVT - was 06GT

Even the Vega looked good with a split bumper. My Yenko Vega had this done. Should have kept it - who would have thought a Vega could pull 90 grand.

Guys, the 'Split Bumper' as you call it was originally referred to as the 'RS' option. Or simply Rally Sport. That, was a trim option. The 'SS' aka Super Sport was usually a performance option. Its not unusual to see the 'RS/SS' options combined.

I got this directly from the Camaro experts at the CRG site:

"Dealer might have put it in the trunk for customer to install, but the factory never did.

They were never original factory production and there was never a cross ram in the assembly plant.

Cross rams were through the dealership or over the counter only."

A smart play that added to Chevys revenue and simultaneously skirted liability issues I'm guessing. The valuation for a complete original assembly would off the scale most likely.

Keep driving toward that sunset.  And if the Earth happens to be flat after all then oh well..

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past

Quote from: FL SAAC on March 23, 2023, 10:35:09 PMMy favorite is the 69 and 70 ( new body ) Z 28s
Great minds think alike. In 67 when the Z28 was introed I was working at the local Chevy dealer in a HS auto shop work experience program. The first one we got had the shifter messed up - UAW couldn't figure out Hurst. I got the task to fix it and when done the mechanic said take it out and test it - Game on. It was just about the time school was getting out so a couple burnouts seemed appropriate. When I took it back the tuneup guy stuck it on the dyno and he guesstimated almost 400 hp at the crank. But 69 is my favorite closely followed by the half bumper 69 1/2.

But this is hands down my favorite "69 Camaro"  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bCzvuQ_Wck
I could drive a 69 Z/28 with a cross ram and JL8 four wheel disc brakes. But I am already spoken for with the current fold.  A Boss 302S would satisfy more though.

Apples to oranges comparison. Dual Dominators and two Inlines...

But - Ford gave up on the original Cross Boss that used "little" Holleys. It takes a lot of CFM to make Ford 302/351 canted valve heads happy.
