Curious about this story if its true or not. A $100 bill taped to dash and anyone who could reach and get it while accelerating could keep it! I know many people have heard but any experts on it here?

Context?
I'd heard that one back in the early 1980's.   Context:  Version 1:  Back when 427 Cobra's were new at the dealers, they'd say if you went for a demo ride and could grab the $100 when the salesman first accelerated, it was yours to keep.  Version 2:  people giving rides to others in their 427 Cobras....same, grab it when I drop the hammer on this.....

Other versions involve drag strips, Dodge/Plymouth Hemi's.....427 Vettes/Yenko's......

I used to do that with my 70 R Code 4 Speed Mach 1 only I'd say you had until I went into 4th and let off.  Once a few of them would start talking their game about how they could do easily, I'd make them put up $100 as well but they had to hand to me.  Never lost the $100.

Haven't heard it in years but did hear it probably ten times as a lad

I heard it was Ken Miles who taped a $100 bill to the windshield when giving 427 Cobra demo rides with the proviso if you could grab it you could keep it.

Heard it many times too.

I thought the original (circa 1966) amount was $10.  That was quite a bit of money in the day.

$100 would be an outrageous amount to bet with.  But, if true, it was a ballsy move.

Hey it's a CS/SA legend - as with most other CS/SA stories it's grown with time.

Papa scoops reminded me of a story back in the day. Skinny Stan Hallinan RIP was a local legend and hot shoe here in NH. He didn't need a big block to scare his passengers. His 260 Cobra was fitted with a toilet paper holder back in the day for a ride Stan referred to as a "stainer".
