C7FE Lemans small block with automatic trans
« on: May 20, 2023, 06:47:48 PM »
Hello, Does anyone know if  the automatic trans will shift okay when using a C7FE lemans cam? Enough vac. for the modulator to shift gears. I have used this cam with a stick and like the added hp.   Thanks

Definitely not the greatest cam to use with an automatic.

Doesn't the C7 Lemans cam idle at 1000-1200 RPM ?  At that high of a idle you would be power braking all of the time when stopped with a stock torque converter.

In the day, that combination was considered not compatible.

If you already have the cam, that is one thing, but if you do not and are just contemplating this installation, there are better alternatives available now.

That is one cam profile that is ground on old technology limitations and is now completely overshadowed by virtually every cam grinders abilities.

I do have an NOS C7FE cam. Restoring my Hertz was thinking of adding hp.  Will probably just sell the Lemans cam and get a stock hp289 cam. Thanks for the input.
