^^^ Scott:  Great looking car. Love the color!

What'd it run at that notoriously sh!tty track?

Elevation (2800 feet) + winds + dirt on the track surface = slow times.  I seem to remember the correction factor (to sea level) was typically around 0.5 seconds..or more. Especially on a very hot day.

Thanks, Van. It ran 14.30-14.40s around 100 mph @ dirtbag raceway, no correction factor. The Shelby was stone stock, and very consistent. And yes, LACR was always windy, dusty and hot.

Scott's old Shelby is why I wanted a GT500, that car had such a good vibe.

What ring & pinion were you running?  That's a very fast time for a bone-stock 428CJ, at that track.

Van,
Btw, that photo is from around 1985-86.
I used either a 3.00 or 3.50. Ran the same. Same as shifting manually or leaving it in drive. It was the most consistent car I ever drag raced. It drove like a Cadillac with all the comforts: A/C, P/B, P/S, tilt, automatic, smooth and quiet. As Alex commented, I must have left an impression with him.

This is me with the GT-500 after the restoration, and painted back to its original Grabber Orange color.
