Functional lower scoops question

Given the backside attachment on scoops before and after the "glue in place scoops" in the production evolution I am at a loss to understand why they would be considered more installation efficient. There must be a faucet of the installation that is not obvious otherwise they don't make logical sense to even try as a alternative.

I can see where they might be quicker but you would have a painted (to match the body color) outer half/shell and depending on the adhesive some (very short or long) cure Time. Maybe just a limited time experiment  that didn't go as planned. Would not be the first one of these while Shelby and the crew was making the choices. Only thing we know at this point is its apparent that they did and that they changed their production methods after this

Confused. Is this the way most were done?
1551

Jerry, assuming you still own 1551 and scoops never been removed? If so just another example of an April car with an altered production change by Shelby. Also can you confirm if you have functional brake scoops? The car Jeremy started is owned by my wife and I #1430.

SA still had to take out the interior pieces for the upper scoops , roll bar installation and scoop ducting (earlier cars) so no savings in time there from exterior attachment of side scoops. Since none of the other 67 fiberglass was painted on the car I would assume the outer half was painted first before being added. That would another layer of difficulty not getting adhesive on the painted surface of the scoop compared to the conventional way the other scoops were prepared. You would think that all of these would have discouraged the change from being considered in the first place . This is why I think that there is something missing in the equation (a oh that's why moment) that would have made this way look attractive as a time savings measure.

I am skeptical that the 1551 scoops have never been taken off  already been taken off. The wide head rivets that were already in use on the front nose would have been the logical choice to use on the scoops as illustrated in the  imming1965 and Jeff Speegle pictures . The ones in the pictures that Lfino posted show rivets of a much smaller size which calls into question the originality of the installation.

Lfino- Thanks for the additional pictures and details

Looks like I can capture what what has been presented do far and add a few more to the list of what might be referred to as the two rivet two piece style of lower side scoop or something like that.  Seems like these are maybe the last version of the functional lower scoops in 67 production.

Took some additional time to look for some more pictures of examples and now have 6 cars total by my counting. All built at SA (as listed in registry)  around 4/3-4/19 1967

67-940     4/3/67
67-1427   4/5/67
67-1430   4/6/67
67-1452   4/6/67
67-1453   4/6/67
67-1551   4/18/67
67-1187   4/19/67

Car Jeremy referenced is #1430 4/6/67
67-940     4/3/67
67-1427   4/5/67
67-1452   4/6/67
67-1453   4/6/67
67-1551   4/18/67
67-1187   4/19/67

Jeremy's car reference is #1430 4/6/67 to add. Please also note functional brake scoops. That also seems to be a disconnect between early and mid year cars.

Did 1661 have a rearward rivet out of the view of the forward two?

Bob, here's a view showing a couple additional rivets further back. I'll let you interpret as needed. Just providing data point which may or may not be useful for this production time frame.

Yes, would be good to verify that ALL have actual ducting not a blocked-off opening.

"6T6/7" can you feel inside the scoop is not blocked-off? and is there an opening in the rear wheel wells, see attached for reference...
