A current car on BaT (0F02R483073). Prior owner posted a link to a pic of it in 1975 before it was stolen and recovered.

Lothar Motschenbacher, who ran Valley Mercedes Benz, owned CSX 3012, but it was silver. I suspect the photo is around the time Riverside Raceway was closing, and hopefully someone from the area can tell us more.

Yes , Wayne Gapp and Jack Roush were partners at one time while working for Ford.

Ned Lothar had a shop here in Anaheim by the 5 freeway. There were two 427 Cobras in the shop when it caught fire . Both were damaged . Yes one was silver , IIRC the other was red.

Yes Wayne Gapp and Jack Roush raced together back then. Wayne opened a shop on Levan rd in Livonia and Jack on the next street(Market street). Now Jack owns many buildings on Market street as well as other areas in Metro Detroit and down south(NASCAR).

I want to say '69-70 but I could be off a year or two.

That's great information. But it's also puzzling, as Lothar was frustrated by the service he got on his comp 427 and returned it to Shelby by '66. Hence neither the silver nor red car in his shop when it caught fire was his. I wonder whose  are they actually were?

Not sure but the newspaper shot showed two Cobras. I drove by his shop the mext day and they were still visible in side. Our local paper , The Anaheim Bulletin is long gone and I doubt the images are still around.

Here's a photo I have in my files of Motschenbacher's CSX3012, the caption said SCCA Regional Santa Barbara, May 29th '65.

Thanks for the back stories on the two Cobras.

GT350HR & Side-Oilers, , here's info from two sources that says the fire in Motschenbacher's garage was Nov. '72.

There could be some info in Autoweek/Competition Press in period, I have them, but they are still in plastic bins in storage after

two moves.

So flying vehicles of any kind are a really bad idea.  People have enough trouble navigating in two dimensions and now you want to add a third?  What are you thinking?
