Be very surprised if I hadn't posted some pics of them - here is Cher's Mustang.

They, of course, were customized by Barris Kustoms.

The Cher Mustang is sporting the Rader wheel that Shelby Automotive originally specked for the XR7-G Cougars that were recalled.

Sonny's is in the background behind the fence. Shoot is probably for their TV show for song Bang Bang.

Barris also customized Nancy Sinatra's Tbird. It was not as radical, would you want Frank POed at you for messing up the car you gave your daughter? He also installed a Boss 302 & 4 speed that I posted earlier. This is the whole car.
He did love his fur carpet and Rader wheels.

Those slotted mags on the Sinatra T-Bird look unusual. Wouldn't be surprised if they weren't Wheel Corp of America/Trans-American Products wheels.

Wheel Corp. (Mickey Thompson)/Trans-American, Barris, American Sunroof Corp. and Ford all did business together.

Notice the Kelsey Hayes copy they offered.

propayne thanks for posting that shot of the Sonny & Cher Mustang, do you know when that style of Rader wheels came out ? They

are very similar to the wheels that were on the Chaparrals, I think first time at Sebring in March '65, Jim Hall always regretted that

he didn't patent the design, the BBS wheels where also very close in design.

The wheels on the Sinatra T-Bird that 98SVT posted  look like Ansens ? Astros also had that look, but as soon as a wheel design

came out it was copied by others.

Wasn't there a thread here or on forum 1 about wheels ? 'cause I was going to ask a question about Americans and Torque Thrusts,

 couldn't find it.

Thanks Mike - I think you are right about the slots being Ansens or Astros.

Dick Rader started making his first wheel around 1962. Mickey Thompson saw it and ordered a ton and they were soon in biz together. Rader and Thompson eventually had a falling out at which point Rader almost went under but survived. That's when the name went from Wheel Corp. of America to Trans-American Products. Another company purchased Rader and the quality went downhill.

The spoked Rader came out around 1965/66. I've noticed the Chaparral wheels also but doubt the Rader made wheels were strong enough.

When Hertz wanted a special "European Cougar" to rent along with the Shelbys in 1968 they requested they have wire wheels. This became the XR7-G and Shelby Automotive was tapped to make the conversions. Ford/Shelby knew real wire wheels were impractical and sourced that Rader spoke design but in the end had a bunch of problems with them and they were recalled.

The original Raders had 16 spokes. Similar wheels that came along later (Shelby even sold one) had at least 18 spokes. for added strength I'm sure.

I was able to snag a vintage set of Raders.

Cool picture Roy - thanks for posting.

Looks like the vendor had several different Rader made wheels.

I am always on the lookout for when these wheels show up, like on this Fiberfab offering. Can't remember the name of this model but it is one of the better looking bodies they made.

My Rader & Fuzzy comment was more to point out what seemed to be his preferred products - not his only ones.
It seems all his movie & TV stuff got Rader - maybe he had some type of product placement contract with them.
