I've always loved that '60s NASCAR look with the cubic inches on the hood - plus those painted steel wheels.

Those are "wide 5" racing hubs/rims. Very common on stock cars of that era and still used today.

I believe that pic is from the 1968 Sandhill 250 (Rockingham) so the #16 should be "Tiny" Lund and the #15 would be Swede Savage (love that name).

But I bet the tire situation is a similar deal to Gurney and P.J. during the '67 Trans-Am season.

One of these Cougars is for sure an ex TA Cougar, but Bud did build at least one dedicated Cougar for the NASCAR Grand Touring division.

Cougars finished 1, 2, and 3 that day.

Since I'm on a roll here with the Bud Moore Cougars - R.I.P. David Pearson, one of the greatest race car drivers of all-time.

AMEN to that!!
Grew up watching Pearson drive locally here in WNC and Nascar sanctioned tracks, Bristol, NC Motor speedway and Charlotte and the Man was absolutely AWESOME behind the wheel 8)

Inspired me to race circle track myself. Raced for 9 years before the track shut down here.  The Old Asheville Motor Speedway.

I wanted #17 so bad as my car number but it was already taken, so I settled for #18 ;D

Judging by the nose configuration, I think this is an AC Ace ? maybe with an 8, sure has a big pipe on the right side. looking at the dress of the guys, I would say this is in the states.

coming back to this, it looks like the guy on the right is holding a wheel rim, maybe that's what the discussion is about ?

I always liked this logo, found it amongst my papers while sorting things out. It's from Stock Car Racing Magazine, in the mid to late 60's.
