Is there more than 1 manufacturer of this piece or are they all made by the same vendor? (Referring to the repops)

Special Ed

Daniel Carpenter made them off original mould.

Are the Carpenter ones still available and are they the best fitting? I see a lot of vendors selling ACP.

Dont think Tom Tulusty  (muscle parts) ever made them as i went to his auction and bought a van full of parts back in the early 90s.

Back in the late 80s when he would go to local swap meets he was the only guy who was selling them and he was the LAST guy who I'd buy parts from and I bought one off of him as nobody else had them. I was buying parts from him from his Dearborn Dix street store back in the late 70s early 80s and where I first met Dave Riley who was working for him.  So in 1984 after being a customer for years I walk in and he is running his counter and talking to a guy so I waited patiently. After about 5 minutes he turns to me and asks "what do you want" in a snarky tone. I said I just bought a 70 GT500 and was looking for parts for it. He said we don't have any parts for your Shelby  and then turned and continued talking to the other guy. I walked out shaking my head. I soon found the T Bird parts store in Livonia(later bought up by NPD) and Tom lost thousands and thousands of dollars in sales for the years after. I also started going to a local dealer who would use my Father in law's employee status at Ford for a nice discount also. Saying Tom was a dick to me  is an understatement. To this day When I go to NPD it is easier to tell them my customer number "3xx" than it is to spell my last name.

Yes Tom T was very hard to talk to and deal with (not a people person) and my connection with him was thru dave riley  as  he and ron charney didnt get along (and everybody got along with ron (god bless his soul) both had mustang parts shops down by the rouge ford plants on Dix road  was the dirty dangerous part of downtown detroit back in the 80s and I will never forget the strip joint along Dix road by the river as it was called Chicks on Dix!!!

I ran in Ron Charney a few times and knew who he was but never really dealt with him over the years. I first went to Tom when he was on dix but by 1984 when I went to spend a lot of $$$ for my Shelby he was now on Telegraph in Taylor. As you can see in the pic he could have made some $$$ off of me selling me parts. Of course I did many more Mustangs between that time and 1995. When I bought that boomerang molding off of him it was the last part I needed for a CJ 69 Mach1 I had pretty much done and he was selling it CHEAP at the Gorno Ford SAAC MCR swap meet. I'm sure he didn't recognize me a decade later nor would I expect him to. How I bought it in 1984 and how I finished it.

If I have to go repop, which manufacturer/vendor has the best fitting piece?

I thought the original repops were off of Ford tooling and that was 30 years ago. Only missing the ford number. How about getting your originals re-chromed?
