The style of that guy's wife's shoes says it all. No woman with those shoes would be attracted by a Shelby.

Exactly what Carroll and FoMoCo wanted!

You are probably right, Pete.  A brow isn't distinct; neither are pedestals.
Although earlier cars could remain in inventory a long time, sometimes well into 1969.

is that a cobra snake bite kit sign in the corner behind the car ?

I don't think that the word to apply is the word "weird" but I find it unusual and not what I would expect to associate with the image of a Mustang fastback.

To me the "Shelby" done was just a design study and the fact that there was only one known to have been made answers the question that it was not a "popular" idea. I agree with the results that "make no more" came to be.

I had a Red 1970 6 cyl. Fastback with a full White Vinyl Top and White Interior.  I also had a Blue 1973 Mach 1 with White Interior and a Vinyl Top that cover the Front Two Thirds of the Roof.

I looks like maybe she's asking herself: "Fools and their money soon part"! and then: "I just don't know,........why did I ever marry this man!"

She needs to mind her own damn business. It's his money and he can do whatever he likes with it. Let her go earn her own.  Further, if she cannot at a minimum tolerate his personal interests and passions, the question then becomes why did he ever marry her. There is always a replacement available if he so chooses. Men are the gatekeepers of commitment and marriage. Not women. At her age she's pretty much out of options while he has plenty.
"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"
