AO Smith was a subcontactor that manufactured cars for the big 3 auto companies.

They built the 68-69/70 Shelbys. They did not sell cars retail.

A.O. Smith had a Ford dealership?

The same A.O. Smith Corporation headquartered in Ionia Michigan that performed the conversions on the Shelby Mustangs and XR7-G Cougars?

You should tell us your Shelby number and we can help you find the documents that should have been provided to you, when you purchased the car.

Sunlit  Gold cars should have white rocker stripes. Trunk mats were speckled not plaid, but you knew that.

I think it was on the old website that I posted these?

Here is one half of a huge two page ad the Smith ran in a 1968 issue of Fortune magazine -

President, Delmarva Cougar Club - Brand Manager, Cougar Club of America

Here is the second half of the ad.

Gives you an idea of some of the things A.O. Smith was involved with.
