Looks like the Count doesn't show up in "The Lounge" and perhaps other Sub-Forums

I find it quite childish to view the number of posts as something to strive for, as it's not the quantity of ones posts that makes for a productive member on a forum, but the quality of the posts that you make.

I'll leave it at that.

Guys, the reason for a 'point count' spammers get a 5 cent per post on any internet comment they type.

Scott, I didn't know how the price-per-post thing works.  Thanks for the info.

How would spam-posting a Shelby forum be worth anything?  Who's paying 5-cents for such attacks?  The Corvette Forum?   :P

+1.
I moderated a Drum Builders forum for a time.  The competing forums got into such antics.  And then people within our forum did also.  Some forums also put rules in place like "You can't post items for sale until you have 50 posts".  Then someone just posts "Yeah!" or "Great IDea" in 25 topics and magically have their post count and then post something for sale.....possibly a scam.
We, as Moderators/administrators got tired of the childishness.  We edited posts counts for the children and they went from "264" to "-5000" (NEGATIVE) over night.  And just for yucks, we all changed our own to "12,573,873"  (yes....millions of posts!).

Van,
It all started on the open forums like Yahoo! and other political columns, etc. The person in question does defend the Corvette with countless posts on here...Anyways, they were simply known as bots. "An Internet bot, web robot, robot or simply bot, is a software application that runs automated tasks on the Internet, usually with the intent to imitate human activity, such as messaging, on a large scale."

So, such people aren't actually people?

I'm far from any kind of a computer guy, so I truly don't get it.  Who would pay anyone to run up posts on a tiny site like SAAC Forum?

The Bots/Spyders and such, are scrubbing for information.  I don't think they post anything.  But now with AI....perhaps that will change next.
The Bots and such, show up in the "Who is Online" type counts.  On our old drum forum, it was common to see 5 to 10 actual users on, then the count would show "22 online", translation, about as many bots scrubbing for data as there were actual users.

Van,
Because our guy in question has no life...
And, I'm sure the mods will lock or delete this thread soon.

NO they wont lock it nor should they! If some dont like car show postings dont read it. Seems the same few go round and round with their occasional flare ups. Who gives a SHI- if someone posts about car shows or puppy dogs. If someone is involved with these cars which they have proven they are, but like other things... so be it! Most on here are all OLD, SLOW, NON DRIVERS, NON RACERS, NON MECHANICS, Really NO INVOLVEMENT other then how much prices have jumped on the values of the cars. Sad really but true... If it wasnt for Tony or a couple other knuckle heads, there would be no entertainment value here... Just my 2 cents.
