What is the consensus/opinion on using some sort of a heat/sound mat like Dynamat,Killmat...etc on a street driven Shelby Mustang, 4 speed big block car. I have both boots on the shifter and I'm ready install new carpeting. Thoughts?

The consensus among the concours crowd is to put back the original type mat. The enthusiast crowd typical leans that way also once they are informed of the original type and its availability. NPD sells the factory type underlayment. It is necessary to make the carpet fit best.

Thank you Bob. Helps with my decision in what direction to go.

Make sure you get ALL the under carpet pieces relevant to your car, look at the visual reference illustration of where all the pieces are and get every one, on top of gas tank too.
