Sorry they are sideways.
Rotated, also note the black '67 has a flat gas cap/emblem

Friend of mine, who owns 0046 was told years ago that the black early car in the Gulf ad was his. No way to really
document. Ad seems to be Sebring and I believe his car was sold new in Florida.

Tom:
The footnote in the SAAC Registry seems to support that, as it went to JD Ball (Miami) and was a PR/Show car.

Thanks, I've always wondered which car it was!!!

JD, great catch on the flat gas cap emblem. Tom's comment on the Sebring location hooked me in.

There were two raven black double digit cars that were shipped to JD Ball. BOTH were PR cars.
#0041 sold 12/21/66
#0046 sold 1/21/67 - the 2011 registry notes the steering wheel was replaced by Stark Hickey Ford in Michigan on 3/7/68.
#0107 and #0125 went to JD Ball too, but they likely didn't get a flat gas cap / emblem

The two Gulf GT40s are from Daytona 2/4/68 (P/1074 and P/1075).
The number "9" on the deck of P/1074 was on the left side with the single center orange stripe (At Le Mans in June the "9" was on the right side).
Looking closer at the ad the location is Daytona, not Sebring. We can see the embankment of the turns.

So the question I have is when did #0046 move to Michigan if the service was done 3/7/68?
It might be #0041...

Rich, OK so it could also be #41 ... more checking

I have a copy of that ad and it's easier to see the flat gas lid & emblem in the ad.

JD, it still could be #0046, it's just seems less likely with the registry note.
Maybe Al knows something we don't.
