67 GT500 PS hose routing
« on: February 07, 2019, 10:10:04 AM »
Hi all,
I have replaced my power steering hoses with concourse ones on my 67 GT500 without air and the metal spiral sleeve from the pressure hose rubs the
power steering parts that travel back and forth.  Can anyone send me a picture of how the hose is routed.

Thanks.

Do you have the hoses clamped down to the control valve?

If you could post a photo, or two, of what you have that would be good.

Power Steering pump to valve pressure and return line to PS cooler, Cylinder to control valve. I am not exactly sure what area he needs.

Agreed, part of why I suggestion he post a photo of what he has that he thinks is wrong.

Sorry for the delay with the pictures but here are a few.  I have an original cooler and concourse pressure line.  I did not want to connect the line from the cooler until I was sure I had the routing worked out.

Walt that helps a lot.

I'll look for some images to post as others will too.

For starters the bracket holding the two hose junctions is oriented wrong.  Currently you have it vertically and it needs to be horizontal.  Also now understand what portion is interfering with the ram.

Here's one...(Auto so there is an extra hose in the shot)
another...with some "added insulation"

Return line is not clocked correct on control valve . Rubber block bracket not attached properly by the lower control arm . Return hose not seated properly in rubber block. You should also invest in some correct looking short lines from the control valve to the ram.I will try and post a picture later if someone doesn't post one in the mean time.

My ram to power valve hoses are NOS Ford.  The clamp that holds the metal portion of the pressure and return line to the power valve is an expensive original. They are about 100.00 these days. The same thing can be accomplished with a worm drive band clamp if you don't want to drop the C-note. There is an orginal on Ebay currently for 145.00. Your hose block and insulator is incorrectly installed. I will try and put my car up on jackstands and get more pictures for you if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Kieth, your ram hoses are much later Ford service replacements that don't look like assemblyline . Functional yes, assemblyline looking no.  The ones that blue dot reproduces are much closer looking. FYI I have some of the earlier 67 control valve crimp clamps that I get 45.00 for.

Bob, I think the stock tags on them were from about 1989, so yes. They are late service parts.
