I came across a 65 K Code with a factory 4.11
Axle Code # 9..

I never realized they produced this option.

Rare?
It's a first for me..

And wouldn't a 4.11 gear just kill a 289HP?

No reason a 4.11 would hurt a 289/271
Shelby 289'which is moderately "pimped" all Came 3.89 which is very close.
Anyone else?

I've come across 68 GT 350s with 3.89 and their original 302 was long gone...
And I'm guessing that low axle has something to do with it..

If it will make you feel better, you can write me a check.

I will not squander your money.

The 389 was standard for the 1968 GT350 4spd. It was Shelbys little secret.....to make it better than the Mustang

I just wrote a big check to the Federal government three weeks ago....

I'm sure they'll do something productive with it....

Years ago I came across a 64.5 K code convert with 4.11's. It had the same number on the door tag.

I had a 65 drum brake fastback 4 speed , code 9 diff ( 4.11) thirty five years ago that I bought from the original owner.  It was an "ordered " car . Most came with 3.89s.

I wrote a federal one too, plus the state one ,could have bought either a 289 or 427 Cobra plus a GT350R model back in 66 for my part in paying taxes this year
Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

I take it you live in (no don't want to get flagged) lib-T_eral State? Like NY, CA, MA? LOL that is why we are moving....We live in NY where, it is bad! The "Climate" or "Weather" is not good. And I don't mean "Climate" as "Climate" I mean "Climate"......TO "ya all" that are moving to "Friendly Climate" states, please bring your cars, but don't bring your "Bad Climate Ways" with you. For that is the reason your States that you leave has such a "Bad Climate."

I too had a '65 271HP Mustang originally equipped w a 4.11 open 9" rear end, circa 1973.
Still have the housing and the gears. Couldn't have been too uncommon.

I bought a driver's side door from a guy parting out a Mustang in 1987 when I was in high school.  I was in Phoenix so the car was bone dry.  I forgot why he was parting it out.  I still have the door plate.
