This past labor day weekend, in addition to hitting the MCA Grand National in Fredericksburg, a number of us also attended the Virginia Festival of the Wheel, held at The Boars Head Resort in Charlottesville VA. As part of the program (which included a driving tour and evening dinner on Saturday evening), on they held a Sunday invitational show, with various classes, including (but not limited to) American Sports cars, European sports cars, vintage race cars, brass era cars, early hot rods, etc. The featured make this year was Packard, of which at least 10 were in attendance. Approx 110-120 cars were shown. The highlight of the show was that Brant Halterman won Best of Show with his 65 GT350 (SFM5S162), which he and his son Gavin DROVE 1-1/2 hrs to the show. SAAC member (and owner of SFM6S2297) Bob Garland is involved in the organization of the show.

I will also mention that this is an extremely well organized show, and better yet, all the proceeds go to the University of Virginia Cancer Center. Next year's show will feature Fords and Ferrari cars.

Here is the recent letter from the chairman:

Friends-
In a check presentation ceremony at the Emily Couric Cancer Center November 19, the members of the Virginia Festival Advisory Board presented a $30,000 donation to Christi Sheffield, Manager of Supportive Care Services with the UVa Cancer Center. In just our second year, the Virginia Festival of the Wheel met our 2019 goal for raising funds to assist the UVa Cancer Center. This would not have been possible without the generous support of our Partners, Participants and Volunteers who make our event at the Boars Head Resort such a success Labor Day weekend.
The VFOTW Advisory Board wishes to extend their gratitude to all those who helped make this happen.
We have already started our planning for our next event in 2020 which will again be held at the Boars Head Resort next Labor Day weekend. This promises to be an even bigger and better event than 2019.
We look forward to seeing all of you there. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
