I'm looking to clean off some paint over-spray on my 65 Mustang's data plate. Anyone out there try this with good results?

If thick you can clean it away by chipping it off using a soft edge like plastic scraper. Don't use much effort

If thin  ( light overspray) you can remove some  with wax and grease remember - just takes time

Many years ago, I had a paint remover product (thick liquid-spray-very stout) that I was using for the entire car.  Sprayed some on the thick layer over the '65 door plate and walked away.  It wrinkled up and just lifted off with zero effect on the background of the plate!

Maybe just got lucky?  Good luck

If just light overspray I use 0000 steel wool and wd40 cleaned many that way.
